Welcome to the All Paeds 2018 Conference in Cape Town

Welcome letter SAPA/SAAPS 2018 congress chairperson

Dear Colleagues

We are excited to welcome you to the 2018 SAPA/ALLSA conference. This year’s conference will take place at Century City, ideally situated along the N1, in the very heart of the greater Cape Town metropolis. Century City boasts one of the biggest and most prestigious shopping malls known as Canal Walk, and the superb bird conservation area, Intaka Island. Cape Town, the most beautiful city in South Africa, is bound to offer delegates a variety of experiences from unparalleled natural beauty to delicious culinary experiences to awe-inspiring sporting and outdoor activities. It is an honour for us to welcome you all to this special place. Hemmingway said if you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast. The same can be said of Cape Town.

SAPA is privileged to jointly host this year’s conference with our friends and colleagues of the Allergy Society of South Africa (ALLSA). We are also grateful to PANDA, USANA and SASPID for further enriching the meeting. This year’s programme promises to be very exciting and aims to bring together a diverse range of local and international speakers. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity to strengthen both your personal knowledge and that of our profession.

A unique aspect of this conference is a strong focus on the next generation of paediatricians, with special sessions dedicated to allowing young researchers to present their exciting work.

We would like to thank the organising and scientific committees for the exciting academic and social programme that they have put together, as well as our international expert panel, who have taken time out of their busy schedules to share and interact with us at this meeting.

Lastly, we would like to thank all of the sponsors because without their financial support this meeting would not have been possible

We hope to see many of you at the conference.

Cape Town is currently experiencing a severe drought, but don’t despair as we have not run out of wine yet!

ALLPAEDS 2018 - ALLSA CONGRESS 2018 - Welcome Letter

We are excited to welcome you to the Mother City for the 27th Annual ALLSA Congress. This event will take place at the popular Century City Conference Centre, which provides a spacious and stimulating environment for our delegates and exhibitors alike.

This year we are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a joint congress with SAPA, and are looking forward to working with our paediatric colleagues.

There will be joint Allergy and PID focused sessions/workshops, which we hope will prove to be of interest to all of our ALLSA members, as well as our paediatric colleagues. In addition, there will also be a dedicated Dietetic session.

Our combined plenary sessions will cover cutting-edge topics, and we will have a number of international speakers to keep you stimulated.

Please see the March edition of Current Allergy and Clinical Immunology to see details regarding free paper submissions and travel grants. Please pay attention to submission deadlines.

We extend a sincere welcome to our exhibitors and look forward to interacting with you all again. Thank you for your loyal support over the years.

Hope to see you in Cape Town.
